This is definitely one of the best books I've read this year. I've found it thanks to 5 ideas for summer reading by Bill Gates, which I really recommend to subscribe.
Matt Richtel, Pulitzer prize winner and New York Times author takes us to amazing journey of immune system mechanics, evolution of science around it and a lot of curious cases related to our super-sophisticated defense mechanism.
From this book, you will get to know:
- Why do you have a fever when you get infected.
- What are lymphocytes, neutrophiles, macrophages
- How they learn, evolve and work together to kill what's bad and protect what's good.
- Why amount of people suffering from allergies and autoimmune diseases increase rapidly.
- That all of us already have cancer, but we shouldn't be worried about it.
You can grab the book on Amazon (ES) or in PL bookstores
