Get to know your body! Institute of Human Anatomy channel on YouTube

This is definitely one of the best YouTube channels that I stumbled upon lately. Before we jump into deep waters of what we really are made of, a word of warning: some of you might find content of this channel disturbing, or even disgusting, as most of the videos in this channel contain analysis of different organs presented on the real dead bodies. Ladies and Gentlemen, I present you: Institute of Human Anatomy If you find looking at inner parts of the body unpleasant, skip it. But think twice. While first encounter might be really uncomfortable, I promise you can get used to it really quick and thus be able to get some awesome knowledge. For your convenience, I'm not posting any screenshots, but here's a short list of videos that I've found really enjoyable: What vaping does to your body How BAD Is It When Something Goes Down the "Wrong Tube"?  Are YOU Missing a Muscle??? | Here's a Test to Find Out!! 100th birthday anniversary of Stanisław Lem - great Polish SF writer

Lately we've been celebrating 100th birth anniversary of a great Polish Science Fiction writer - Stanisław Lem . His books are great, and are recognized internationally. Lem is said to be one of the few that predicted climate changes and dangers that we face in our modern world, decades in advance.  If you never had a chance to read anything that he wrote, I highly recommend reading Solaris - it's a nice short book, that was once pictured as a cinema movie.

The truth about Netflix documentaries

So you're a Netflix documentaries fan, huh? 😎 I'm not saying that everything streaming platforms serve us is worthless - you can definitely find a lot of good content over there that will entertain or teach you something. But let's be honest - a lot of movies are created purely for money, but still in the way that will engage a lot of viewers, driving the revenue that way. Watch this short video (less than 5 mins) to check out how easy it is to blindfold the viewers judgement, by combining some good editing and nice shots bought from the stock sites. Enjoy!

What happens when you bring candy and gifts to the african kids

Note: this video is in Polish, but English subtitles are available. When it comes to developing countries, are all of the forms of help actually helpful? In the following episode, you can dive deep into the issues of toxic forms of help while traveling to the "poor" contries, like african ones, India and think twice if it's worth it to bring the local kids some notepads, pens, candy or money. BONUS: If you enjoyed this video, my strongly recommendation is a follow up with a great book! Factulness by Hans Rosling, named as one of the best books of 2018, sheds some light about the real state of the current world. It shows that actually poverty in the world is not as scaled as we think.  It also tells that how we perceive the world is strongly biased by the fact, that mass media tend to dramatize everything. In the end, it shows that despite of what we hear, we, as a human nation, are in a waaaay better position currently that we think we are. You can grab the book at Amaz...

DeepL - better than Google Translate

Today I'd like to share with you a great Google Translate alternative - DeepL.  If you tend to hate Google Translate for it's translation quality, try this alternative. It's based on a Deep Learning algo's (same as gTranslate), but delivers significantly better results, especially for Polish-x language pairs. Check it out yourself by visiting the official website.  The tool has a free tier which is sufficient for most of the use cases. You can also enjoy it on your mobile devices.

Cash in USA - vlog series

Cash is one of most know Polish travel YouTubers. What I feel differs him from the others is his honesty and ability to show the places he visits in a true, realistic perspective, showing not only good parts but also bad ones. In his latest trip, he visits USA. Again, as he went to the States a couple of years ago during his Work And Travel program, which he also recorded. This setup gave him the ability to not only show the beauty of the United States, but also compare his experiences from the past, and show a lot of bad things that happen to the US recently. This series already has 20 episodes, so there's a lot of nice stuff to watch. I embedded he first episode above, but here's the link to the full playlist. You will get a chance to see some parts of Hollywood, LA, casinos and sleeping in a camper in multiple national parks. Enjoy!

Awesome book - An Elegant Defense by Matt Richtel

This is definitely one of the best books I've read this year. I've found it thanks to 5 ideas for summer reading by Bill Gates , which I really recommend to subscribe. Matt Richtel, Pulitzer prize winner and New York Times author takes us to amazing journey of immune system mechanics, evolution of science around it and a lot of curious cases related to our super-sophisticated defense mechanism. From this book, you will get to know: Why do you have a fever when you get infected. What are lymphocyte s, neutrophiles, macrophages How they learn, evolve and work together to kill what's bad and protect what's good. Why amount of people suffering from allergies and autoimmune diseases increase rapidly. That all of us already have cancer, but we shouldn't be worried about it. You can grab the book on Amazon (ES) or in PL bookstores
